The Signal
The last two weeks knocked me off center — and surprisingly, it wasn’t the sleepless nights of having a teething six-month-old.
It was AI.
Everywhere I turned — a boardroom strategy session, a family dinner, even daycare drop-off — the conversation collapsed into the same topic. By the seventh one, I felt a quiet irritation rising. It felt like the world had shrunk into one word.
Then, in the middle of the AI Advantage Summit, I heard a sentence that stopped me in place:
“AI is love.”
At first, it sounded absurd. But as speaker after speaker unpacked the data — the pace of change, the erosion of meaning, the crisis of human connection — something clicked.
We’re not overwhelmed because AI is accelerating.
We’re overwhelmed because we are profoundly disconnected from ourselves.
And the more I sat with that, the more I realized why I’d been derailed, why I paused my work, why I needed stillness:
AI isn’t here to replace our humanity.
It’s here to return us to it.
The Insight Lab
🧠 In the Brain
A simplified view of neuropsychology helps explain this shift:
The left hemisphere excels at logic, language, and complex problem-solving.
The right hemisphere holds emotional awareness, connection, intuition, and meaning.
We often try to “think” our way through emotional problems — an impossible task.
The left can’t invent a solution to what the right is responsible for.
AI, at its core, is left-brain outsourcing.
It handles the computation, the sorting, the processing — the things that drain cognitive bandwidth — so the right brain can do what it’s meant to:
feel, connect, interpret, regulate, and derive meaning.
And there’s a biological truth here:
A single emotion, when fully felt without resistance, completes its cycle in about 20 minutes.
The bottleneck isn’t the emotion — it’s our lack of space to feel it.
⚙️ In Practice
If AI gives us anything, it’s time:
Time to reconnect with our own values and internal signals.
Time to regulate our stress so adaptability becomes possible.
Time to amplify what makes us uniquely human — purpose, creativity, compassion, depth.
Time to cultivate the “bedside manner” that will define leadership when everything else is automated.
Some speakers called it the 90/10 rule:
Let AI take the 90% you don’t love, so you can devote your energy to the 10% that makes your life meaningful.
In a world where everything is possible, meaning becomes the scarce commodity.
We must rebuild the internal muscles — emotional regulation, agency, self-efficacy — that let us stay grounded as complexity rises.
Step-Up Challenge
This week, outsource one mentally heavy task — and use the saved 20 minutes to sit with a single emotion without trying to “solve” it.
Mind in Motion
I realized this most acutely as a mother.
If the world now changes in “11-day cycles” — the equivalent of three years of disruption compressed into a week and a half — then my daughter is stepping into a reality without the stabilizers I grew up with.
I can’t give her predictability.
But I can give her presence.
And I can model adaptability, not by racing the pace of the world, but by regulating my relationship to it.
That pause I took last week?
It wasn’t avoidance.
It was an act of leadership.

Closing Loop
AI isn’t the threat — disconnection is.
And when we reclaim our inner clarity, AI becomes an amplifier of the part of us the world needs most.
